Brunch @ Fable Kitchen

Fable Kitchen Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Location: 1944 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver

It was 10:25 am on a Saturday, and there was already a line up of about 15 people outside of the restaurant. Nevertheless, we were still able to grab a table shortly after at 10:35.

The interior of Fable kitchen was quite spacious, and the atmosphere was pretty laid back. Their kitchen was also completely open for everyone to see.

Fable Kitchen is known for the “farm to table” approach, where the food ingredients are all locally sourced. On the menu you could expect traditional/hearty brunch items like eggs bennies, sausages, bacon, and steak & eggs, etc. Below are the dishes we ordered that day:

(Daily special): Smoked Salmon Confit Eggs Bennedict ($15)

The salmon had a nice smokey flavour, but it also retained a moist texture. It was a pleasant surprise because anything -confit I’ve tried (elsewhere that is) turned out to be a bit dry, but this wasn’t the case 😀

At first glance, I thought the potato was just a giant brick of fry. The inside was actually more sophisticated. It was actually shredded hash browns encased in a crispy skin.

Steak & Eggs ($17)

The black sauce underneath the pile of steak was the BPJ – Black Pepper Jam. It tastes like pepper (haha), and beef always goes well with pepper. Our toast didn’t come with any jam or spread. When we asked our server, they told us they don’t carry any peanut butter at Fable Kitchen. I suppose that reinforces their “farm to table concept”. They did, upon request, gave us some delicious blackberry jam. 🙂

Molang Scores & Verdict
