French Food @ Les Faux Bourgeois

Location: 663 E 15th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5T 2R6

French cuisine for those on a budget! Les Faux Bourgeois is the place to go for authentic french food without the posh ambiance and prices.

The restaurant is easy to find; just a bit north of Kingsway & Fraser. Though there isn’t much going on in the surrounding neighbourhood, inside Les Faux Bourgeois is very vibrant and welcoming.

Our server (he sounded French, so that added authenticity I suppose) was very attentive during throughout our dinner. He kept a friendly smile, refilled our water promptly, and offered loaves of bread (we loved their bread). He even fixed our wobbly table without us asking!

For our dinner, we ordered four dishes. Every one of them was under $30 :O

Soupe à l’oignon gratinée ($10)

A classic French onion soup. Beneath the layer of baked gruyère and mozzarella were large chunks of French bread drenched in soup. There were also caramelized onions and smoked bacon. Even with all the heavy ingredients, the soup wasn’t overly salty. Continue reading

Dinner @ Kibune Sushi

Kibune Sushi Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Location: 1508 Yew Street, Vancouver, BC 6K3E5

Kibune Sushi is located right by Kitsilano beach. Though it isn’t very big, the place is easy to spot; just look for the oriental-looking storefront with a Japanese sign.

This cozy little restaurant gave off a very traditional/authentic vibe. They were quite understaffed, as on several occasion during dinner, it took several attempts to get the attention of our servers. In terms of price, the food here is on the expensive side of the spectrum. We’d like to believe that it is due to the quality of the cooking, and to a certain extent, the neighbourhood in which this restaurant is situated.

For our dinner for two, we ordered the following items:

  1. Miso marinated sablefish ($14)
  2. Ocean maki ($7.50)
  3. Osashimi dinner ($25)
