Matterson House Restaurant in Ucluelet

Matterson House Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Address: 1682 Peninsula Road, Ucluelet, BC V0R

The Molangs went on a trip to Vancouver Island this past long weekend. We stopped by Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Ucluelet, and Tofino 🙂 Matterson House Restaurant was where we had dinner in the peaceful town on Ucluelet .

The Matterson House Restaurant looks and feels like a grandma’s house, with the vintage decor. The overall vibe was warm and comforting.

For food, we ordered a variety of seafood dishes!

Matterson Seafood Chowder – $6.75 (bowl)

Due to the addition of corn, this is a sweeter variation of the cream-based seafood chowder. Other goodies in the chowder include shrimp, white fish, spinach, and carrot.

Shrimp and Scallop Creole – $12.95

What is this? It’s shrimps and scallops tossed together in a tomato-based sauce. The sauce resembles marinara sauce with a hint of spiciness. Although it’s not an entree per se, this dish was surprisingly filling (maybe it was because of the garlic bread :P)

Oyster Burger – $11.95

The oyster “patties” were pan seared, not deep fried (healthy!). When eaten individually, the oyster tastes subtly delicious, but in my opinion, it’s not heavy enough to be eaten together with veggies and hamburger buns.

Molang Scores & Verdict

Food: 4/5

Value: 4/5

Service: 4/5

Ambiance: 4/5

Total: 16/20

We enjoyed our dinner at Matterson House Restaurant. They also have bigger/more proper/pricier dinner entrees (like halibut, prime rib, chicken, etc.) if you fancy those 😀
