Address: 150 4th St, Tofino, BC V0R2Z0
We wanted to make a dinner reservation at Wolf in the Fog this past Sunday, but they were already fully booked weeks prior. Luckily, we walked in, and got ourselves a table for late lunch 🙂
You could tell from the clean decor that this is a higher end restaurant. Service wasn’t the quickest, even at 2:00 PM.
I noticed their “den” (lunch) menu look rather ambiguous. Everything is typed on a single sheet of paper, and the appetizers and entrees are grouped together. I suppose you could tell them apart by the prices. It didn’t really matter because we ordered a bunch of different dishes 😛
Salt & Pepper Squid – $10
We really enjoyed this dish. Imagine calamari but lighter and fluffier. The squid meat was tender and not chewy. The dipping sauce was a mixture of olive oil and herbs. I believe it was called chimmichurri. On the side was a refreshing coleslaw. We didn’t feel fat or greasy eating this 🙂
(Side dish) Mac & Cheese – $9
Perfect comfort food for a foggy/chilly day! We loved the choice of white cheddar. We also liked how they deviated from using the traditional elbow macaroni (different texture!).
Albacore Tuna Melt – $12
For some reason I imagined tuna steak (like an ahi tuna)… but this was good too! Overall it was a non-boring version of a tuna (salad) sandwich; much more moist. Hidden between the layers was a slab of aged cheddar that gave the sandwich a depth of flavour.
Molang Scores & Verdict
High quality food at lower-than-expected prices. If we visit Tofino again, we would definitely come here for dinner.
