Miltown is sandwiched between South Vancouver and Richmond. It is so close to Richmond that you can clearly see the McArthur Glen Outlets from the restaurant! Hey, that’s a bonus – good view!
Getting there is slightly tricky… Below is a semi-helpful illustration on where to go.
Basically, turn into that minor intersection as you drive along Granville St./SW Marine Dr.
Now back to the main topic of this blog post – $15 prime rib dinner!
Every Sunday evening after 5:00 PM, Miltown serves 8oz prime rib steaks for $15*.
*The caveat is that you have to order a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). You cannot order just one drink per table either; in other words, anybody who wants to order a $15 steak has to buy a drink.
Therefore, the prime rib meal is actually around $20, as most drinks are around $4 – $5. Still, it’s a pretty good value.
The prime rib comes with the goodies you’d expect: fries, Yorkshire pudding, asparagus, and gravy. I wish they gave us horseradish as well…
Taste-wise, the food was good but not the best. Prime rib was cook to medium rare, but it was a bit cold. Though the gravy helped, some may prefer a bit more salt on the meat. The side dishes were good complements to the meat. The asparagus (accompanied by some kind of garlic sauce/paste) actually had, in my opinion, more depth of flavour than the prime rib. Overall, the portion size was just right.
Molang Scores & Verdict
After all, Miltown is still a bar & grill. It is a lively place to watch live performances, or to catch the game on TV. Come at least once for the experience, and an affordable prime rib dinner. 🙂
