Tokyo Joe’s is one of those local favourites. Everyone in the neighbourhood raves about them. Prior to this visit, we had bought take-outs from Tokyo Joe’s, and we were always amazed by their speedy service. We would order a 30 to 50 piece party tray, and the sushi would be rolled and packed within five minutes!
Today, we decided to dine in, and the service was once again very fast and friendly. Dining in also means free miso soup 🙂

Jules Bistro is tucked in the heart of Gastown in Vancouver. Among many fancy establishments, it was nice to see a casual French restaurant.
The decor decor had rustic charm, and the staff was overall friendly and professional.
For dinner, we decided to go with the value option – two course meal for $29.
First course – Tomato gazpacho
If I recall correctly, Gazpacho is a classic Spanish dish. This was essentially a chilled tomato soup that tasted very similar to salsa (obviously due to ingredients like tomatoes and garlic). Unlike salsa, the gazpacho wasn’t spicy because it had no chili peppers. Furthermore, we tasted a hint of celery which gave the soup added freshness and lightness. This was a perfect starter on a hot summer evening.
