The Molangs have tried almost every restaurant in the Continental Plaza. Chongqing Noodle House is one of the newer ones we have yet to visit.
Atmosphere-wise, this noodle house is definitely casual. Seats are wooden benches with no back support.
We went in around 6:45 on a Sunday night. The place wasn’t exactly busy, but our server seemed impatient with us. She really wanted us to place our orders, even though we only had less than a minute to look over the menu.
Speaking of menu, there was a wide variety of noodles to choose from: dry noodles, soup noodles, spicy noodles, and sauerkraut noodles, etc. We ended up ordering two bowls of noodles with the same soup base… 😀
Spicy beef brisket noodle – $10.99
This was Szechaun style, so on top of the spiciness of chili, you also taste the numbing flavours of peppercorn. Soup was rather heavy, and a bit on the greasy side. Noodles had good texture; not soggy and not overly chewy. While the beef was tender, we couldn’t help but notice the small portion size. There were about five small cubes of beef in total.
Spicy pork intestine noodle – $10.99
Noodle and soup base were exactly the same as the other bowl. The only difference was the protein. Once again, the intestines were very tender and flavourful, but 4-5 little pieces weren’t enough!
Molang Scores & Verdict
I presumed we ordered two of their signature (i.e. front page) noodles. Flavours were not bad, but the portion size was a let down.
