It was a bright and sunny Saturday, and we were just exploring the great outdoors of Port Moody. Since our stomachs started to growl at 4:00 PM, we decided to drop by Originals Cafe Mexicano for early supper.
This place seemed to be a neighbourhood favourite. It was already quite packed at 4:00PM. From the outside, the Cafe looked like someone’s little house. The vibe was casual and authentic.
Let’s jump right into the food…
Guacamole and Chips – $10.75*
To be perfectly honest, we were let down by the small portion size (for the price). Nonetheless, the guacamole (and pico de gallo) was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, limey, has a little bit of heat, and addictingly salty (in the best possible way). All of this was accompanied by the perfectly crisp chips.
Taco Trio – $14
Left: Pastor. Pineapple + marinated shaved up pork. Sweet tasting; very tropical flavours.
Middle: Steak (my personal favourite). It was roast beef + fresh spices and herbs.
Right: Baja Style Fish. Breaded white cod + avocado + pico de gallo. Drizzled on top is some kind of spicy mayo. This was the most filling of the three tacos we chose.
